Spa Hotel Capacity Study

GHA were approached by an entrepreneur who wished to create a luxury spa hotel in Cambridgeshire, replacing an existing tired hotel. The brief was to produce a capacity study for the site, with the aim of providing 150+ bedrooms (ranging from simple doubles to riverside suites), restaurants and bars, a riverside terrace, pool, gymnasium and spa, with a 'country house feel'.

Our response was to maximise the site with the creation of a large, landscaped entrance courtyard, allowing views to all rooms of either the river or gardens. The classical style of the sketch proposals nod to the style of historic buildings once on the site, and the massing is such that views of the riverside are maintained either over or through the buildings.
