Long Road, Cambridge
Our client required a large extension to their somewhat undistinguished 1950’s house, containing a spacious family room/kitchen, a generous master bedroom suite and a 5th bedroom, together with an annexe that can be occupied independently.
A tired 1960’s single storey extension to the rear of the property was removed. This enabled a family room to be constructed, which was angled to let in the maximum amount of sunlight possible on this north west aspect. Part of the family room is double height, with high level glazing to allow light to flood into the kitchen.
The roof of the annexe was kept low on the boundary, sloping upwards on the garden side to provide height & light [always appealing].
A mix of stainless steel roofing, cedar cladding and crisp elegant window detailing has successfully updated this property, giving it a lively and attractive contemporary appearance.
