Events Venue
Derelict and on the Council's Buildings at Risk register, the Planning authority were ready to support a new use for this listed building. Our client’s proposed conversion to a wedding venue needed significant extra accommodation, separate from the main barn.
We used archive photographs of the farmyard from the early 20th century - which showed a range of open bay cartlodges adjacent to the thatched barn - as both precedent and justification for the design of cartlodge-style accommodation in the same location. The carefully and sympathetically restored interior of the Listed barn makes an impressive and attractive space, flooded by daylight from the new glazed oak screen.
